Report by Dabir Ahmad Bhatti – Tarbiyyat Secretary, South Cheam Jamaat
South Cheam Tarbiyyat Day Report – Date 9th August, 2015
South Cheam held its first Tarbiyyat Activity Day on Sunday, 9th of August, 2015
The event was chaired by the National Tarbiyyat Secretary, Nisar Orchard Sahib.
The programme started promptly at 2.00pm with Zuhr congregational prayers. The proceedings formally started with Tilawat by Danish Butt, (aged 14), then short introductory remarks by the local Tarbiyyat Secretary Dabir Ahmad Bhatti, followed by a welcome address by the local President Muzaffar Ahmad ZafriSahib.
What followed was an interactive session by Nisar Orchard Sahib, who with the aid of his Power Point presentation held the audience’s attention for the next two hours. He emphasised that he was keen to make this a fun and interesting day, while stressing the importance of Tarbiyyat covering a vast range of everyday activities.
He drew the attention of the audience with a stark reminder that death is guaranteed to each one of us, and made us to reflect and think how we would like to be remembered. While touching on the subject of birthdays and other innovations like Christmas and Easter, he urged us to shun these practices, reminding us that we have many more meaningful days that we already celebrate like the two Eids, Holy Prophet Day, Promised Messiah Day, Khilafat Day, Ijtemas etc. He pointed out that the best gift a parent can give their child is good Tarbiyyat. The Nikah Sermon, he said, makes mention of Taqwa no less than 5 times, which is significant. He confessed that although not an expert in human psychology, yet he can declare with certainty the solution to breakdown of marriages can be solved using the ingredient of Taqwa. The attainment of Taqwa is to mount an assault on our natural human frailties like anger, greed, impatience, etc and develop our moral values to the extent that we are able to climb to the summit of our personal ‘Mount Taqwa’.
The presentation was integrated with a sprinkling of questions, at regular intervals, relating to recent Friday Sermons which kept the audience alert and captivated. It was encouraging that some of the Atfal shone by rising to the challenge successfully answering many of the questions.
The overall feedback received was excellent, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Food was served, and our thanks to the Ziafat Secretary, Shareef Abro Sahib and his team.
There was a healthy total attendance of 82, with 39 on the men side (including 12 Atfal) and 43 on the women side.
